About the Author
Miah Groom was born in the Bronx and raised in Yonkers, New York, a place that shaped her resilience, her heart, and her voice. An educator with a background in English, she did not fall in love with literature through traditional classrooms, but through stories that felt honest, unfiltered, and familiar.
Her debut novel is a work of fiction inspired by personal experiences and emotional truths. While names and identifying details have been changed, the feelings, lessons, and growth reflected in the story come from a very real place.
Writing has always been Miah’s sanctuary. From journaling in her younger years to processing moments that tested her spirit, she learned to use words as a way to heal, reflect, and survive. After years of starting and stopping, she reached a moment of clarity where sharing her story felt necessary.
This story is for anyone who has ever felt misunderstood, who has survived what should have broken them, or who is searching for proof that transformation is possible. It’s about resilience, redemption, and finding your voice after the world tries to silence it.
Miah is a woman of contrast: strong enough to endure difficult seasons, yet soft enough to lead with compassion. Though often misunderstood, she remains grounded in her faith, her loyalty, and her values. Her three children are among her greatest joys and deepest motivations.
Everything Miah is today has been shaped by God’s grace, growth, and the courage to keep going. Through her writing, she invites readers to feel the heart behind the story and to meet the woman behind the words.
